In December of 2007, the hospital marked the delivery of its 40,000th baby since its opening in 1990. Deliveries in 2007 reached a record 3,226, representing 60% of all deliveries in the Bethlehem region. In 2007 the hospital saw an increasing number of expectant mothers with malnutrition and complex complications of pregnancy.

They delivered more premature babies, which required expensive neo-natal intensive care. About 43% of these distressed newborns had to be completely subsidized. These subsidies totaled the highest level ever by the end of 2007.
