Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem
Only 500 yards from the site of the nativity where the Blessed Mother gave birth to the Savior of the World, Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem protects the sanctity of life, cares for infants and children and comforts expectant mothers. It is truly a beacon of hope and peace in the Bethlehem region. The Holy Family Hospital 's work in the Holy Land is at the service of the poorest and serves as a testimony of Christian charity.
Designated by Pope John Paul II as one of his top 100 projects for the new millennium, the hospital is considered the pre-eminent provider of medical services in the Holy Land and opens its doors to everyone, regardless of national origin, religion or ability to pay. Mothers travel from near and far, whether it is the remote areas of the desert or within the town of Bethlehem , so their babies can be delivered safely and given the expert medical care to become healthy infants. Holy Family Hospital is their chosen destination!
- its neo-natal intensive care unit is the only one in the region(saving 400 infants last year)
- the obstetrics department provides the only long-term hospitalization for mothers with high-risk pregnancies
- annually performs almost 18,000 outpatient consultations
- serves as a referral hospital to four UN Relief Works refugee camps
Since the Bethlehem region has no health insurance or welfare system, it is through the generosity of donors, such as yourself, that Holy Family Hospital can continue to serve the poorest and most defenseless of the region who often have little or no means of paying for medical services.
