Impact of both the declining economic situation and the general strike in the public sector hospitals on Holy Family Hospital

Due to the severe economic hardship of the Palestinian population, the number of cases admitted to the hospital who require financial help through the Poor Case Fund has significantly increased (as shown in the graph below). With the renewal of the strike in the government sector, in March 2007, the activity of the hospital has increased dramatically reaching an all time record for the month of March. This has both increased the hospital's operating budget and the Poor Case Fund of the hospital. The Poor Case Fund has now reached a monthly average of $45,000 . Medical fees are already heavily subsidized by the Order of Malta and the Poor Case Fund financially assists patients who can not afford all or some of the subsidized fees.
