Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem Foundation
is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. with a mission to deliver life, peace, and hope in the Holy Land. As a primary work of the Order of Malta, the world’s oldest Christian charity, we serve to further the Catholic values of preserving life, fostering peace, and giving hope to those without a voice.
Holy Family Hospital
in Bethlehem, located just 1,500 steps from the birthplace of Christ, is our Foundation’s primary program. This Catholic teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art maternity and neonatal critical care center serving poor and at-risk women, infants, and children throughout the Bethlehem region. In this area of conflict, the Hospital stands as a beacon of hope for families, including refugees and residents of remote desert villages.
The Hospital and its Outreach Clinics have impacted more than one million lives since 1990. No one is ever turned away.
Mission, Programs, and Impact
A Commitment to Life
- Lifesaving medical services for women, infants, and children
- Prenatal care and delivery for over 100,000 babies since 1990
- Neonatal intensive care for more than 440 newborns annually
- Postnatal care for mothers and infants
- Pediatric services and referral care
- Diabetes screening and treatment
- Care for postmenopausal women, including gynecologic check-ups, surgeries, and screenings
An Instrument of Peace
- Providing more than 190 jobs for Palestinian families – Bethlehem’s second largest employer
- Uniting Christians and Muslims who work together every day to foster peace through medicine
- Sponsoring continuing medical education for nurses and midwives
- Hosting conferences for Palestinian, Israeli, European, and American clinicians, encouraging collaboration
- Partnering with Peres Peace Center and Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem for lifesaving procedures
